Code editor

The source face of the editor, with LaTeX-aware completion and tooling.

The code editor is where you write LaTeX directly. It understands your project, not only the file in front of you.

Completion

Press Cmd/Ctrl + Space to autocomplete commands, environments, labels and citation keys. Inside \input{}, \include{} and \includegraphics{}, completion offers the paths of files in your project.

Writing helpers

  • Environment pairing. Typing \begin{...} adds the matching \end{...}.
  • Math preview. Hover over math to see it rendered.
  • Formatting. Shift + Alt + F formats the document; you can also turn on format on save in the settings.
  • Spellcheck for prose, with a language setting.
  • Inline markers for Git changes, overlong lines and comments in the gutter.

Insert menu

The toolbar's Insert menu adds structure without typing boilerplate:

  • Environments: quote, quotation, center and abstract.
  • The theorem family, including environments you declared with \newtheorem.
  • New theorem environment… declares \newtheorem{env}{Name} in the preamble and loads amsthm when needed.
  • Footnotes, display math, and figure and table scaffolds.

Separate tools insert tables (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + T), TikZ pictures (Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + T) and wrap an image in a figure (Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + G).

Packages

Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + P opens the package manager: browse CTAN packages with descriptions, add or remove \usepackage lines, and see which packages are installed locally.

Labels

The Labels tab lists every label in the project, grouped by prefix, with reference counts. Unused labels and undefined references stand out. Press F2 on a label to rename it across every file in one step.
