AI quickfix

Optional help for compile errors the built-in rules cannot fix.

The AI quickfix is off until you configure it. When an issue has no built-in fix, Polemic can ask a language model for one and shows the change as a diff. Nothing is applied until you accept it.

Setup

Open Settings → AI and enter:

  • Base URL of an OpenAI-compatible API, for example https://api.mistral.ai/v1.
  • Model name.
  • API key, if the provider needs one.

Polemic calls <base URL>/chat/completions.

Local models

You can run a model on your own machine with Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp and point the base URL at it, for example http://localhost:11434/v1. Then nothing leaves your computer.

HTTPS only

Remote base URLs must use https. Plain http is accepted only for localhost.

Where the key is stored

The API key is stored in Polemic's settings file, readable only by your user. Moving it to the OS keychain is planned.
